Message from City Council
There is no greater responsibility in city government than spending citizens’ money wisely. As we experienced over this last budget year, the economy is not making this task any easier. With an impact exceeding $1 billion, the budget process needs to be addressed as early as possible, and it requires input from everyone in our community.
The City of Jacksonville is responsive to your needs, opinions and ideas. That is why we are making every attempt to involve citizens on the front end of the current budget process. This year, we are providing this new Web site to fully explain the budget process, step by step, and to keep you informed of the schedule for committee budget hearings and other public meetings.
Our goal is to create a sound city budget that meets the community’s needs while remaining keenly aware of the economic strains that families in our community are feeling during this economic downturn. By investing time now, we will craft a budget that best serves our city and its residents, and provides for continued growth when opportunity presents itself.
I applaud you for taking an interest in your city government and using this Web site to help shape the future of Jacksonville.
Sincerely,
Richard Clark
City Council President
