2010/2011 Budget Hearing Meeting Dates
Notice is hereby given that Finance Chair, Daniel Davis will meet with the Finance Committee members in Council Chambers located at 117 W. Duval St., 1st Floor, St. James Building on the following dates to discuss the 2010-2011 Budget.
Thurs., 8/12/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Thurs., 8/19/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office
This constitutional office is responsible for protecting the lives and property of the citizens of Jacksonville. It prevents crime and preserves the peace while at the same time ensuring all personal liberties are respected and preserved.
From traffic enforcement to homicide investigations, JSO also serves as the custodian of all those incarcerated in the county. The agency strives to recruit men and women of character and through excellent training and development of personnel, ensures that they are well equipped, properly trained, and skillfully managed. The agency continuously earns national accreditation, as it works to become THE premiere law enforcement agency in the country.
In an effort to prevent crime, the JSO works within our neighborhoods to engage citizens in crime prevention activities and public safety issues. Officers are strategically deployed, and utilize best practices in their policing tactics, such as intelligence led policing. Officers work in public schools, assist at-risk youths, and offer many intervention and prevention programs for people of all ages.
Once a suspect is arrested or convicted, the Sheriff’s Office operates the counties three corrections facilities, whether suspects are awaiting trial or sentenced to jail time. In addition to its many educational programs, the Sheriff’s Office also prepares inmates to assimilate lawfully into society following incarceration or when returning to Jacksonville from the state prison system.
