2010/2011 Budget Hearing Meeting Dates

Notice is hereby given that Finance Chair, Daniel Davis will meet with the Finance Committee members in Council Chambers located at 117 W. Duval St., 1st Floor, St. James Building on the following dates to discuss the 2010-2011 Budget.

Thurs., 8/12/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Thurs., 8/19/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Thurs., 8/26/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Behavioral and Human Services Division

This division provides vital funding to support eight State of Florida mandates, two city mandated programs, and four essential city services.  It delivers mental and substance abuse services such as temporary financial assistance for shelter, utilities and groceries.  It also provides advocacy and support to crime victims.  The division has 44 employees. 

Programs funded by this division include: Community Alcohol and Mental Health Programs, Medicaid Inpatient Hospital and Nursing Home Care, the Indigent Cremation/Burial Program and Homeless Outreach Services. 

The Sexual Assault Center provides first-responder services to victims of sexual assault. The Victims Services Center provides counseling, crisis stabilization, advocacy and victim compensation.  Through its Emergency Assistance Program, the division provides short-term rent and utility assistance to prevent homelessness as the result of an eviction. 

Budget:

In 2010, the budget for the Behavioral and Human Services Division is $21,322,740.
