2010/2011 Budget Hearing Meeting Dates
Notice is hereby given that Finance Chair, Daniel Davis will meet with the Finance Committee members in Council Chambers located at 117 W. Duval St., 1st Floor, St. James Building on the following dates to discuss the 2010-2011 Budget.
Thurs., 8/12/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Thurs., 8/19/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Thurs., 8/26/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Public Buildings Division
This division has 135 employees that provide security, custodial and maintenance services for all public buildings. The staff maintains more than 600 buildings, which total approximately eight million square feet. Public Buildings also maintains all park and ball field lighting for 260 parks and 17 boat ramps. The division maintains, park restrooms, dugouts, concessions stands, pavilions, 36 public swimming pools and six fountains including Friendship Fountain. The staff also provides support and set up for the numerous city-wide special events including the delivery and set up of stages, bleachers, tables and chairs and electrical services. The Public Buildings Division budget also manages the payment of all utilities used at the various public facilities and parks.
In support of the city’s sustainability efforts, the division will continue its work to reduce energy consumption through the use of more efficient lighting and plumbing. It will also increase and enhance the security measures at key city facilities and oversee various roof replacements, upgrades to the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and capital improvements to seven public pools and several park restroom facilities. It will look to continue efforts to phase out city-owned septic tanks, as opportunities arise.
Budget:
In 2010, the operating budget for this division is roughly $36,809,063.
