2010/2011 Budget Hearing Meeting Dates
Notice is hereby given that Finance Chair, Daniel Davis will meet with the Finance Committee members in Council Chambers located at 117 W. Duval St., 1st Floor, St. James Building on the following dates to discuss the 2010-2011 Budget.
Thurs., 8/12/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Thurs., 8/19/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Thurs., 8/26/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Office of the Director, Jacksonville Children's Commission
The Office of the Director oversees the general operations of the commission, distributes funds to outside agencies, ensures that city grantmoney earmarked for children and family programs is being spent appropriately and evaluates services provided to thousands of children and families in Duval County.
New Town Success Zones will continue to be a priority in 2010. This program insulates families residing within its designated zones to improve the lives of children. The Nutrition Team will continue to provide oversight of the summer lunch program and the after school Team Up food programs. Along those lines, addressing childhood obesity will continue to be a priority. This office has 24 employees.
Budget:
In 2010, the budget for the Office of the Director is $22,446,640. This budget includes funding approved by City Council for all The Jacksonville Journey programs managed by the Commission.

Did You Know?
In 2010, the city is expected to serve about 800,000 meals and snacks to children in the after-school food programs. Also in 2010, about 10,000 children will attend the Children’s Commission’s after-school programs.
