Jacksonville Children’s Commission
The Jacksonville Children’s Commission supports families’ efforts to maximize their children’s health, safety and education. Commission staff works to make Jacksonville one of the nation’s top cities for preparing children to reach their potential.
The Commission is comprised of the following divisions:
- Office of the Director– Oversees the general operations, including agency grants, administration, New Town Success Zone and community outreach.
- Training, Evaluation and Research – Provides training for parents, professionals and volunteers who work with children, which also includes mentor background screening and training.
- Mayor’s Early Literacy Program – Ensures preschoolers are school-ready by encouraging early reading skills and improving learning at childcare centers.
- Don Brewer Early Learning and Professional Development Center– A state-of-the-art early learning facility for children ages newborn to 4 years old.
Budget:
The total budget, which includes a transfer from the General Fund - GSD into a Special Revenue Fund, for the Jacksonville Children's Commission is $27,085,490.
