2010/2011 Budget Hearing Meeting Dates

Notice is hereby given that Finance Chair, Daniel Davis will meet with the Finance Committee members in Council Chambers located at 117 W. Duval St., 1st Floor, St. James Building on the following dates to discuss the 2010-2011 Budget.

Thurs., 8/12/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Thurs., 8/19/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Thurs., 8/26/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Office of Director, Fire and Rescue

The Office of Director manages all of the divisions in the Fire and Rescue Department, including human resources, recruiting, payroll, administrative, budgeting and planning functions.  It provides media relations support, health and wellness logistics, technological advancement and quality control.  This division has 13 employees.

This year it will continue to provide oversight for the 10-Year TriData Implementation Plan. This plan anticipates funding in future fiscal years to build eight new fire stations equipped with engine and rescue companies, replace or relocate seven existing stations, add six full-time and two peak-time rescue units, ensure a staff of at least four people at 23 engine companies, and add four additional ladder companies and two additional Marine units.

Recruiting efforts will focus on finding a diverse mix of recruits that reflect the city’s population.  It will continue to promote the Firefighter Cadet Program.

Budget:

In 2010, the budget for this division is $2,542,445.
