2010/2011 Budget Hearing Meeting Dates
Notice is hereby given that Finance Chair, Daniel Davis will meet with the Finance Committee members in Council Chambers located at 117 W. Duval St., 1st Floor, St. James Building on the following dates to discuss the 2010-2011 Budget.
Thurs., 8/12/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Thurs., 8/19/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Thurs., 8/26/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Fire and Rescue Department
The mission of the Fire and Rescue Department is to minimize the loss of life and property resulting from fire, medical emergencies and other disasters through prevention, education, fire suppression, emergency medical services and emergency preparedness.
- Office of the Director – The Office of Director manages all of the divisions in the Fire and Rescue Department, including human resources, recruiting, payroll, administrative, budgeting and planning functions. It provides media relations support, health and wellness logistics, technological advancement and quality control.
- Emergency Preparedness – Provides the critical planning and oversight necessary to best prepare the city in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.
- Fire Prevention Division – Provides community education services, fire inspections and arson investigations, and reviews plans of new structures to ensure they meet safety codes.
- Fire Training Division – Provides initial training, certification and re-certification of fire and rescue professionals.
- Emergency Medical Services (Rescue) – Provides pre-hospital medical care and transportation.
- Fire Operations (Suppression) – Fights fires, responds to medical emergencies and a variety of other incidents.
- Administrative Services – Serves the administrative needs of the department.
The total budget, which includes the General Fund, Special Revenue and Capital Projects Fund for the Fire & Rescue Department is $166,217,806.
The General Fund – GSD budget is $164,252,518.
