2010/2011 Budget Hearing Meeting Dates
Notice is hereby given that Finance Chair, Daniel Davis will meet with the Finance Committee members in Council Chambers located at 117 W. Duval St., 1st Floor, St. James Building on the following dates to discuss the 2010-2011 Budget.
Thurs., 8/12/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Thurs., 8/19/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Thurs., 8/26/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Fire Operations Division (Suppression)
The division is responsible for responding to a variety of emergencies throughout the city – structure fires, wild land fires, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous materials incidents, severe weather as well as all medical calls – all with the constant focus of protecting lives and property. The Operations Division has 905 employees that operate nearly 110 suppression units located at 54 fire stations across the county.
A class of 30 firefighter recruits will be hired in March 2010 to provide staffing to field units. In September 2010, JFRD will hire a class of 24 for its ongoing Cadet Program. Plans for Fiscal Year 2011 include the construction of one fire station in the Argyle Forest/Oakleaf Plantation community as well as a fire boat to be placed in service in the Heckscher Drive area.

In 2010, the budget for this division is $113,052,478.
