2010/2011 Budget Hearing Meeting Dates
Notice is hereby given that Finance Chair, Daniel Davis will meet with the Finance Committee members in Council Chambers located at 117 W. Duval St., 1st Floor, St. James Building on the following dates to discuss the 2010-2011 Budget.
Thurs., 8/12/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Thurs., 8/19/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Thurs., 8/26/10 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Animal Care and Protective Services Division
This division of 62 employees enforces ordinances pertaining to domestic and companion animals. It investigates animal cruelty and neglect, picks up strays and addresses community concerns regarding animals. It also houses lost and stray animals, prepares pets for adoption and educates the public about proper animal care. Other responsibilities include the oversight of animal licensing and a spay and neuter program for low-income families.
The office conducts dangerous dog hearings and manages rabies control and bite case programs. Its goals for this year are to increase the number of animal adoptions and streamline the licensing process.
Budget:
In 2010, the budget for this division is $4,568,296.
