Capital Improvement Plan
The city schedules capital improvement projects in five-year intervals to meet the city’s infrastructure needs and to comply with state mandated growth management. Through City Ordinance, this is done every year as part of the budgeting process. The city has budgeted $157,689,195 in capital improvements for fiscal year 2009-10.
Capital improvements are projects that involve construction that is meant to last at least 10 years, have an estimated construction cost of more than $100,000.
A complete listing of the city’s CIP projects, can be found in the city’s budget book. The list below is a sampling of the projects expected to be completed in the 2009-10 fiscal year:
- Fire Station #61 on Brannon Field Road and Argyle Forest Boulevard
- Fire Station #63 at St. Johns Town Center
- Jacksonville Zoo dock design to prepare for dock extension
- Design renovation of Trout River Bridge for fishing and boating use
- Mandarin boat parking lot to provide more boat ramp parking
- Arlington River dredging project to remove heavy silt near Beach Boulevard boat ramp
